Privacy Policy
Effective: October 18, 2026
This policy explains how Read4Me handles information when you use its Android application and related services.
Information we process
- Account information: Firebase Authentication processes your email address, account identifier, and, when supplied through Google Sign-In, basic profile information.
- Submitted text: Text you choose to convert is sent to our Cloudflare-hosted service and OpenAI to detect its language, generate a title, and create narration.
- Usage records: We store your account identifier, UTC date, character usage, and request identifiers in Cloudflare D1 to enforce the 5,000-character daily allowance and prevent duplicate or abusive requests.
- Technical information: Cloudflare may process IP address and basic request/security information to deliver and protect the service.
Local library and audio
Your reading text, titles, and generated MP3 files are saved in the app's private storage on your device. Read4Me does not synchronize your library between devices. Audio responses and one-way content hashes may be cached temporarily by Cloudflare to improve performance and avoid duplicate generation. We do not use submitted text for advertising.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase for authentication, Cloudflare for API hosting, caching, security, and quota records, and OpenAI for language/title processing and text-to-speech generation. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective terms and privacy practices.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information and we do not serve advertising. Information is disclosed to the service providers above only to operate and secure Read4Me, or when required by law. An MP3 leaves the app through another app only when you explicitly use Share.
Retention
Account and quota data is retained while your account is active and deleted after a valid deletion request, normally within 30 days. Short-lived security logs, caches, or backups may remain for a limited period. Local readings remain until you delete them, clear app data, uninstall Read4Me, or delete your account in the app.
Your choices
You can rename or delete a local reading at any time. You can delete your account in Settings or follow our account deletion instructions. You may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Authentication tokens protect private API requests, and service credentials are kept on the server. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
Read4Me is a general productivity service and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum digital-consent age in their country). We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information improperly.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised and material changes will be communicated where required.
